Georgia Senate Resolution commending Ms. Albertha Moore Smith on the occasion of her 100th birthday, born March 9, 1916, in Savannah, Georgia

Ms. Smith earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia State College (now Savannah State University) and a master's degree from New York University, and served 30 years as a full-time educator and 20 years as a substitute teacher

Recognized for establishing the first lunchroom serving hot meals at Monteith Elementary School and organizing a student-and-parent vegetable garden, and was elected Teacher of the Year twice at two different schools

Active member of several organizations including the National Education Association, the NAACP, local PTAs, and Catholic organizations at St. Benedict Catholic Church; she and her husband also worked to help citizens vote

Directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide a copy of the resolution to Ms. Albertha Moore Smith
