GA HB1030

Authorizes the City of Douglasville to exercise all redevelopment powers under Georgia's "Redevelopment Powers Law" (Chapter 44 of Title 36, O.C.G.A.), including creating tax allocation districts, issuing tax allocation bonds, and incurring related obligations.

Requires the municipal election superintendent to hold a referendum for City of Douglasville electors to approve or reject the Act, with notice published once a week for two weeks in the official organ of Douglas County.

The Act's substantive authorization (Section 1) takes effect immediately only if more than one-half of votes cast in the referendum are in favor of approval.

If the referendum fails or is not conducted as required, the Act is automatically repealed on the first day of January immediately following the election date.

All election expenses are to be borne by the City of Douglasville, and the municipal election superintendent must certify the results to the Secretary of State.
