Georgia House Resolution 1311, sponsored by Representative Burnough of the 77th district, formally recognizes and commends Janie McKesey for her dedicated community service to the citizens of Georgia

McKesey organizes numerous community events including job fairs, ice cream socials, law enforcement appreciation luncheons, community yard sales, neighborhood watches, and a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser benefiting individuals needing help with medical costs

Awards and honors include the President's Volunteer Service Award signed by President Barack Obama, an Outstanding Performance Award for the Downtown Atlanta Tornado Recovery Operation in March 2008, and a gold medal for outstanding substitute teaching in Fulton County

She completed Clayton County's Police Department Citizen Police Academy, participates in the Clayton County Police Department's VIP Program, and has volunteered with Fulton County Community Action Authority food distribution

The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to provide an appropriate copy of the resolution to Janie McKesey
