Georgia House Resolution 1404, sponsored by Representative Dickerson of the 113th district, recognizes and commends Kimya N. Motley for her contributions to the state

Kimya N. Motley is a certified educator with over 20 years of experience in Georgia public schools, named Teacher of the Year at Rosebud Elementary, and served on the Teacher Advisory Council to the Gwinnett County School System superintendent for 2015-2016

After surviving a personal tragedy in 2011, she founded Haven of Light International, Inc., a nonprofit helping families rebuild spiritually, physically, emotionally, and financially after abuse

Her advocacy against domestic violence, teen dating violence, and sex trafficking earned commendation from Governor Nathan Deal and recognition as an "Everyday Hero" by the Investigation Discovery channel in November 2016
