Georgia House Resolution 1436, sponsored by Representative Gonzalez of the 117th district, recognizes and commends Dr. Margaret Holt for her lifetime of leadership, service to women, and commitment to advocacy, education, and scholarship

Dr. Holt is a retired faculty member of the University of Georgia's Department of Adult Education and one of six founders of the Jeannette Rankin Foundation, a national nonprofit that awards scholarships to older women pursuing higher education

She has worked with the Charles F. Kettering Foundation since 1981 on multiple projects, including research on public perception of the U.S. judicial system, and is a pioneer of the National Issues Forums

In 1993, Dr. Holt was appointed by the Secretary of Defense to a four-year term on the Board of Visitors for the Community College of the Air Force and was named a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Georgia in 1994
