Georgia House Resolution 1663, sponsored by Representatives Hugley (136th) and Smyre (135th), recognizes and commends Reverend Joseph E. Baker for his devoted service to Christian ministry

Reverend Baker founded Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Florida, pastored at Townsley Chapel AME Church in Savannah, and currently serves as pastor of St. James AME Church in Columbus, Georgia

Served on the Georgia Annual Conference Board of Trustees, as chair of the Savannah District Finance Committee, and as dean of the Board of Examiners in the Southwest Georgia Annual Conference

Established numerous programs and workshops to improve the spiritual and educational growth of his churches and surrounding communities

Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to provide a copy of the resolution to Reverend Baker
