The sheriff of Muscogee County becomes the ex officio marshal of the Municipal Court of Columbus, Georgia, effective January 1, 2021, with all future sheriffs automatically serving in that role during their terms.

The marshal's office is consolidated into the sheriff's department, with the sheriff assuming control of all facilities, equipment, vehicles, records, deputy marshals, and other personnel formerly under the marshal's office.

Vacancies in the office of the clerk of the Municipal Court are to be filled by appointment by the judge of the probate court of Muscogee County for the unexpired term.

The clerk's bond is set at $30,000.00, with annual premiums approved by and paid out of the treasury of Columbus, Georgia.

Certain provisions took effect upon the Governor's approval, while the remaining provisions (including the consolidation) became effective on January 1, 2021.
