Georgia Senate resolution honoring the life and memory of Charlie Andrew Hicks, Sr., a celebrated educator, businessman, and public servant born September 20, 1928, in Reynolds, Georgia

Hicks served as a teacher and assistant principal at Butler High School for 12 years, earned a master's degree from Tuskegee Institute, and became principal at Eureka Elementary & High School; he was later named Fort Valley State College Alumnus of the Year

Founded Reynolds Funeral Home in 1955, which grew into HICKS & Sons Mortuary, Inc., and also operated an insurance agency, co-founded the United Membership Burial Society, and hosted a Sunday morning radio show

Served as the final president of the Georgia Teachers and Education Association and became the first Black state field representative for the Georgia Association of Educators; was also the first Black person elected to the Reynolds city council, the Taylor County Board of Education, and served as the board's first Black chairperson

Directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide a copy of the resolution to the family of Charlie Andrew Hicks, Sr.
