HB 275 — Giving the Gift of Life Act

• Prohibits insurance companies from cancelling, modifying coverage, refusing to issue, or refusing to renew any life insurance policy solely because the applicant or insured acted as a living organ donor (liver, pancreas, kidney, intestine, lung, or bone marrow)
• Increases the Georgia state income tax deduction for organ donation expenses from $10,000 to $25,000 for living donors who incur costs in accordance with the National Organ Procurement Act
• Preserves all other existing provisions of Georgia insurance law relating to cancellation, modification, issuance, or renewal of insurance policies
• Effective July 1, 2022, with the tax deduction applicable to taxable years beginning on or after that date
