Georgia House of Representatives recognizes and commends Commander Shawn McMillan for 20 years of service in the United States Coast Guard, from which he retired on October 1, 2020

Commander McMillan graduated from Newnan High School in Newnan, Georgia, in 1995 and earned a Bachelor of Science in naval architecture and marine engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy

He conducted 133 search and rescue cases across three air stations, serving as pilot in command in 88 of those cases, saving numerous lives

He held multiple leadership roles including assistant operations officer, flight safety officer, current operations officer, and director of auxiliary, and oversaw planning and execution of 2,748 program flight hours across Coast Guard missions

The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to provide a copy of the resolution to Commander McMillan
