Georgia House Resolution honoring the 100th anniversary of Ebenezer Baptist Church's Heritage Sanctuary on Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was baptized, ordained, and served as co-pastor (1960-1968) alongside his father, Martin Luther King Sr.

Ebenezer Baptist Church was founded in 1886 by Rev. John A. Parker, relocated to Auburn Avenue in 1913, and the Heritage Sanctuary building permit was marked completed in 1922.

The National Park Service began restoration of the Heritage Sanctuary in 2001, funded by a Save America's Treasures Grant, restoring it to its 1960-68 appearance including stained glass windows, furnishings, balcony structure, baptistery, and pipe organ.

The Heritage Sanctuary is located within the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site and hosts visitors from around the world; the church's current congregation numbers over 6,000 members.

The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to provide a copy of the resolution to Ebenezer Baptist Church.
