Recognizes March 1, 2022, as Reach Out and Read Day at the Georgia state capitol to promote the importance of reading aloud to young children daily

Commends Reach Out and Read, an early literacy program founded in 1989 that has expanded to all 50 states, serving 5.7 million families nationally and 156,000 children and families across 70 Georgia counties at 164 medical sites

Notes over two million new children's books have been distributed to young children in Georgia through pediatric providers from birth through age five, with participating children demonstrating a six-month developmental edge at kindergarten entry

Highlights that 36,000 pediatricians and medical providers have been trained to prescribe reading as a daily activity, and the program is the only early literacy intervention endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, backed by 22 studies

Encourages Georgia families to read aloud together daily and directs the Clerk of the House to distribute a copy of the resolution to Reach Out and Read Georgia
