GA SB563

Establishes the Purple Star Campus Program through the Georgia Department of Education to support military students and their families, defining "military student" as a dependent of an active duty or former U.S. armed forces service member (including reserves)

Requires participating schools to meet four minimum criteria: designate a staff military liaison, maintain a website page with military family resources, operate a student-led transition program for transferring students, and offer staff professional development on military student issues

Authorizes the Department of Education to establish additional optional criteria, such as hosting annual military recognition events, partnering with military installation liaison officers, supporting school-military community projects, and providing outreach to military families

Allows participating schools to partner with their local school system to procure any assistance necessary to implement program criteria

Becomes effective immediately upon the Governor's approval or upon becoming law without such approval
