Georgia Senate recognizes and commends David McDonald for his induction into the ABCA National Coaches Hall of Fame, making him one of only four Georgian high school coaches to receive the honor

McDonald led the Wheeler High School baseball program from 1979 to 2010, compiling a career record of 496-322 (.606) and winning six region titles in the state's largest classification

Awards include three-time Cobb County Coach of the Year, two-time Georgia Dugout Club Coach of the Year, 2004 ABCA/Diamond Sports National High School Coach of the Year, and the 2015 ABCA/Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award

McDonald coached the USA Baseball gold-medal-winning team that traveled to Taiwan in 2000 and served as a USA Baseball trials coach from 1997 through 1999
