Recognizes March 1, 2022, as Reach Out and Read Day at the Georgia state capitol to promote the importance of reading aloud to young children daily

Commends Reach Out and Read, an early literacy program founded in 1989 that serves 5.7 million families nationwide and 156,000 children and families across 70 Georgia counties at 164 medical sites

Notes that over two million new children's books have been distributed to young children in Georgia through pediatric providers from birth through age five, with participating children showing a six-month developmental edge at kindergarten entry

Recognizes Reach Out and Read as the only early literacy intervention endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, supported by 22 research studies, with 1,500 medical providers and staff implementing the program in Georgia

Encourages Georgia families to read aloud together daily and directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute a copy of the resolution to Reach Out and Read Georgia
