Georgia Senate Resolution 702, sponsored by Senator Harbison of the 15th district, recognizes and commends Mr. Esmond Patterson for his decades of service as a distinguished radio personality and champion of African American music and cultural affairs

Honors the broader legacy of Black radio personalities who, since 1929, have promoted African American secular music (jazz, blues, pop, R&B) and spiritual music (Gospel), particularly during an era when mainstream radio marginalized or excluded Black artists

Acknowledges the role of Black radio broadcasters as social engineers who promoted civil rights, voter registration, economic development, academic achievement, and collective awareness in their communities

Joins WCEG Network Incorporated and the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus in saluting Black radio personalities and calls upon all Georgians to study, reflect on, and celebrate African American music, particularly during June's African American Music Appreciation Month (established by President Jimmy Carter in 1979)

Directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide a copy of the resolution to Mr. Esmond Patterson's family
