GA HB1091

Revises the compensation of the Clayton County chief magistrate by tying it to a percentage of the total compensation (base salary plus local supplements) of Superior Court judges of the Clayton Judicial Circuit.

Establishes a phased salary increase starting at 90% of Superior Court judges' total compensation on July 1, 2024, rising by 1 percentage point each year until reaching 95% on July 1, 2029.

Guarantees the chief magistrate will receive no less than the minimum salary established by general law, should the Act's compensation formula produce a lower amount.

Authorizes the Clayton County governing authority to supplement the chief magistrate's compensation above the amounts specified in the schedule, and preserves entitlement to longevity or other supplements under general law.

Effective July 1, 2024, with compensation payable in equal monthly installments from Clayton County funds.
