Georgia House Resolution 1148, introduced by Representative Cheokas of the 151st district, recognizes and commends Mayor Boze Godwin of Plains, Georgia, for more than 40 years of service as mayor

During his tenure, Mayor Godwin oversaw the opening of Plains High School Museum, the Depot, and the Boyhood Farm in partnership with the National Park Service, as well as the establishment of the Plains CERT Team and the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Boys and Girls Club

Mayor Godwin served as chairman of the Friends of Jimmy Carter National Historical Park and personally assisted with disaster response efforts including clearing debris and maintaining water and sewage plants during floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes

Mayor Godwin donated his entire mayoral salary back to the Better Hometown Program to enhance the downtown area of Plains

The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to provide a copy of the resolution to Mayor Godwin
