GA HB1083

Authorizes the Magistrate Court of Madison County to collect a technology fee of up to $10.00 per civil action filing and up to $10.00 as a surcharge on each fine assessed by the court

Funds must be used exclusively for court technology needs including computer hardware/software, imaging and scanning equipment, printing equipment, and digitization of court records for public access

Collected fees must be maintained in a segregated account by the clerk and used only for authorized technology purposes

Authority to assess the technology fee terminates on July 1, 2031, with any remaining funds dedicated to general Madison County technology uses

Effective date is July 1, 2026, contingent on passage of a separate act amending magistrate court fee statutes; if that act is not passed, this bill is automatically repealed
