GA HB1150

Authorizes advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) and physician assistants (PAs) with at least one year of post-licensure clinical experience to prescribe stimulants (Schedule II controlled substances) under nurse protocol agreements or job descriptions approved by a supervising physician

Removes the age restriction requiring patients to be 18 years or older for prescriptions of hydrocodone, oxycodone, or compounds thereof by PAs, allowing these prescriptions for minors in emergency situations

Maintains existing limitations on opioid prescriptions: must be emergency situations only, limited to initial 5-day supply, and requires direct patient evaluation

Requires APRNs and PAs prescribing stimulants, hydrocodone, oxycodone, or compounds thereof to complete one additional hour of continuing education biennially on appropriate ordering and use of these medications

Defines "stimulant" as any substance that increases heart rate, breathing, or brain function as provided in Georgia Code Section 16-13-26 paragraph (3)
