GA HB1157

Repeals Georgia Code Section 34-4-3.1, which currently prohibits local governments from establishing their own minimum wage or employment benefit requirements beyond state and federal law

Removes the state preemption that prevents counties, cities, and other local government entities from mandating wages or benefits for private employers through ordinances, contracts, or purchasing agreements

Eliminates restrictions that bar local governments from considering vendor or contractor wage and benefit practices when awarding contracts or qualifying bidders

Removes prohibitions on local government regulation of employee scheduling and work hours for private employers

Takes effect upon approval by the Governor or upon becoming law without such approval
