Allows named beneficiaries of group term life insurance benefits from the Employees' Retirement System of Georgia, Georgia Legislative Retirement System, or Georgia Judicial Retirement System to assign payments directly to licensed funeral directors or embalmers to cover funeral costs

"Funeral services" is defined to include observances, ceremonies, transportation, embalming, cremation, and interment of a deceased member

Assignments must be authorized in writing on a form prescribed by the board of directors, accompanied by a notarized copy of the funeral services contract and the deceased member's death certificate

The State Employees' Assurance Department must pay assigned funds according to the funeral services contract terms, limited to amounts actually owed to the funeral service provider
