Local education agencies and postsecondary institutions (University System of Georgia, Technical College System of Georgia) are prohibited from promoting, supporting, or maintaining programs or activities advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

DEI is defined to include differential treatment based on race, color, sex, ethnicity, national origin, gender identity, or sexual orientation, as well as training referencing concepts like implicit bias, microaggressions, systemic oppression, intersectionality, and related theories.

Exceptions allow policies related to interscholastic/intercollegiate athletics programs and the design or use of multiple occupancy restrooms and changing areas.

Postsecondary institutions violating the law face withholding of state funding and state-administered federal funding, including scholarships, loans, and grants; local education agencies face partial state funding withholding by the State Board of Education.

Effective July 1, 2025, applying to the 2025-2026 school and academic years; compliance with state and federal antidiscrimination laws is not prohibited.
