GA HB1324

Repeals Georgia's prohibition on possessing firearm silencers/suppressors, removing them from the list of prohibited dangerous weapons alongside sawed-off shotguns, machine guns, and sawed-off rifles

Allows legal possession of silencers when registered in accordance with federal law (National Firearms Act requirements)

Removes the existing exemption that excluded nuclear facility security officers from possessing silencers, as the general prohibition would no longer exist

Maintains enhanced criminal penalties (10 years consecutive imprisonment) for using a firearm equipped with a silencer during commission of violent crimes including murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and drug trafficking

Effective date of July 1, 2026, applying to offenses committed on or after that date
