Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia is encouraged to maintain policies granting academic credit to active duty military and veteran students for college-level learning acquired through military service, provided the training is substantially related to the coursework.

State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia is authorized to maintain similar policies for granting academic credit based on military service at technical colleges.

Both boards are authorized to use joint service transcripts issued by the U.S. Department of Defense and credit recommendations from organizations that evaluate military courses and occupations.

Both boards, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Veterans Service, are authorized to develop and publish a public guide listing courses for which military students may receive academic credit.
