Health care agents designated at the time of a declarant's death gain authority to serve as authorized representatives for completing public benefits applications and related proceedings on behalf of the deceased

Conservators, guardians, and existing authorized representatives for public benefits applications retain their authority after the principal's death to continue benefits-related proceedings

Authority granted under these provisions terminates immediately when either a new authorized representative is formally appointed or a court appoints an administrator/personal representative for the estate
