Local school systems must include sickle cell disease information whenever they provide health information (on immunizations, infectious diseases, medications, or other health issues) to parents and guardians of students in grades 6-12

Required information includes a description of sickle cell disease, risk factors and warning signs, screening processes, and recommendations to consult with primary care providers for screening and treatment plans

The Georgia Department of Education, in cooperation with the Department of Public Health, must develop the sickle cell disease information and post it on its public website for local school systems to use

Amends Part 3 of Article 16 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated by adding new Code section 20-2-771.3
