Secretary of State would automatically serve as chairperson of the State Election Board, replacing the current system where the chairperson is elected by the General Assembly through a joint resolution process

Eliminates the requirement that the board chairperson be nonpartisan with restrictions on political party participation, campaign activities, and campaign contributions

Removes the two-year lookback period that currently bars chairperson candidates who have qualified as partisan candidates, participated in partisan campaigns, or made partisan campaign contributions

Secretary of State would be exempt from the rule requiring board members to vacate their position if they qualify as a candidate for public office regulated by the board

Amends Code Section 21-2-30 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated relating to creation, membership, and governance of the State Election Board
