Beginning July 1, 2026, individuals applying for an insurance adjuster license in Georgia must hold a valid contractor license (residential-basic, residential-light commercial, commercial general, or commercial general contractor limited tier)

An adjuster's scope of practice will be limited based on the type of contractor license held

Licensed contractors with current valid licenses will be eligible for adjuster licensure within their scope of practice, with potential exemptions based on experience

The Insurance Commissioner is authorized to establish rules and regulations for scope of practice criteria, exemptions, and license renewal extensions for adjusters
