New members of the Georgia Judicial Retirement System joining after the Act's effective date must wait until age 65 to receive retirement benefits for creditable service as a superior court judge, rather than the current age 60

Members retiring before age 65 will receive benefits calculated using only creditable service from other covered judicial positions (excluding superior court judge service) until reaching age 65

Existing members who joined before the effective date remain under current rules with retirement eligibility at age 60 with 10 years of creditable service

Benefit calculation formula remains unchanged: 66.66% of salary for 16 years of service, plus 1% for each additional year up to 24 years maximum creditable service

Survivor benefit calculations for members under the new rules must account for any benefit increase occurring when the retiree reaches age 65
