Chief magistrates in Georgia will be elected in nonpartisan elections rather than partisan elections, with the change taking effect July 1, 2025

Local laws providing for partisan election of chief magistrates or other magistrates are prohibited from being enacted or enforced as of July 1, 2025

Nonpartisan judicial elections will be held jointly with the general primary in even-numbered years, with candidates appearing on the nonpartisan portion of the ballot

Probate court judges will be added to nonpartisan election requirements effective January 1, 2027, contingent on ratification of a constitutional amendment

The Act will automatically repeal if the constitutional amendment for nonpartisan probate judge elections is not ratified by voters
