Prohibits public or private employers from terminating an employee solely because they hold or have been elected to an elected office in Georgia

Allows employers to terminate employment only if the elected office duties prevent the employee from performing more than 51 percent of their job duties

Entitles appointed state or local government employees who serve as elected officials to unpaid leave while fulfilling their elected office duties

Applies to elected officials at all levels including state, county, municipality, consolidated government, school district, and other political subdivisions

Amends Chapter 1 of Title 45 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated by adding new Code section 45-1-9
