Vacancies on the Muscogee County School District board occurring more than 90 days before a general election will be filled by special election held on the same date as that general election, with remaining board members appointing an interim replacement by majority vote

Vacancies occurring 90 days or fewer before a general election will be filled by majority vote of remaining board members for the remainder of the unexpired term, with no special election required

The Muscogee County election superintendent must issue the call for any required special election within 30 days after a vacancy is established

Special elections will be conducted according to the Georgia Election Code and held within the appropriate portion of the school district or district-wide, depending on which voters originally elected the vacated position

Persons elected or appointed to fill vacancies must meet the same qualifications required for election to a full term in that office
