Current Chatham Area Transit Authority board members will vacate their offices on June 30, 2025, with those positions abolished and replaced by a new 11-member board effective July 1, 2025

New board composition includes appointments from Chatham County Commission (2 members plus 1 person with a disability), City of Savannah (2 members), Garden City (1 member), Port Wentworth (1 member if city opts to participate), Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority (1 member), and Chatham County legislative delegation (3 members representing business, tourism, and county residents)

Term lengths vary: elected officials serve concurrent with their elective office; members representing business, tourism, convention center, and county residents serve 2-year terms; disability representative and Savannah resident appointee serve 4-year terms

Members serving two consecutive full terms are ineligible for reappointment until two years after leaving the board; seats are forfeited for losing qualifications, felony conviction, or missing 4 consecutive meetings or 50% of meetings in a fiscal year

Board members receive no compensation but may be reimbursed for pre-authorized expenses; meetings must be held monthly and follow open records requirements
