GA HB801

Revises the powers of the Long County Board of Commissioners chairperson to preside at board meetings (governed by Robert's Rules of Order unless otherwise adopted) and serve as the official head of the county for state, federal, and other authorities

Requires the board to employ a county manager responsible for supervision, direction, and control of Long County's administrative affairs

Authorizes the board to set the county manager's employment terms, conditions, duties, compensation, authority limitations, and grounds for termination by ordinance

Permits the board, by majority vote, to authorize the chairperson to serve as interim county manager for up to 90 days in the event of a vacancy due to death, incapacity, or termination

Effective date: July 1, 2025
