Retiring county officers aged 55-65 with at least 16 years of service as probate judge, sheriff, tax commissioner/collector, clerk of superior court, or county commissioner may elect to enroll themselves, spouses, and dependents in county health plans effective December 31, 2026.

County governing authorities must pay 75% of health insurance premiums for eligible retiring officers and their families until the officer reaches age 65.

Premium payments are capped at the salary savings realized by the county, calculated as the difference between the retiring officer's final 12-month gross salary and the new officer's first 12-month gross salary.

Amends Code Section 45-18-5 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated relating to county officers and employees under the state employees' health insurance plan provisions.
