Georgia House Resolution recognizes and commends Professor Stephen Adébánji "Banji" Akintóye, an eminent Nigerian scholar and leading historian specializing in the history of the Yorubá people of southwestern Nigeria

Professor Akintóye began his teaching career in African History at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 1966, and started teaching U.S. history courses there in 1967

Elevated to full professorship of African History in 1974 and appointed Director of the Institute of African Studies at Obafemi Awolowo University

Recognized for dedication to international affairs and promoting solutions to issues of disunity, instability, insecurity, and poverty in Sub-Saharan African countries

Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to provide an appropriate copy of the resolution to Professor Akintóye
