In 1966, Mrs. Flowers became the first white teacher to voluntarily integrate the faculty of Liberty County High School, where she sponsored the school newspaper, yearbook, and drama program

Career included teaching English at Bradwell Institute, serving as high school guidance counselor, licensed professional counselor in Georgia, elementary school counselor at Fort Stewart, and college professor

Received the Trail Blazer Award in 2011 from the Liberty County Martin Luther King Jr. Observance Association for outstanding community service

Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to provide a copy of the resolution to Mrs. Flowers
