Earned a political science degree from Augusta College, Juris Doctor from University of Georgia School of Law (1992), and Master of Environmental Law from Tulane University

Founded the Pete Law Firm with his brother Anthony Pete, worked with the Cochran Firm of Atlanta, and practiced criminal defense and personal injury law at the Nicola Cummings Law Firm in McDonough, Georgia

Clerk of the House directed to provide a copy of the resolution to Pete's surviving family, including his wife Nicola Cummings
