Graduated from C.L. Harper High School in 1969 as a star athlete, then worked at Nations Bank before dedicating his career to education and coaching at Clairmont Elementary School in Decatur, Georgia

Coached football, basketball, and baseball through Amateur Athletic Union programs, recreational leagues, and Decatur High School, mentoring numerous young people

Served as assistant doorkeeper for the Georgia State Senate following his 2014 retirement from the school system

Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to provide a copy of the resolution to his surviving family, which includes five children and seven grandchildren
