Dr. Sims began his career in Fulton County School System and served as Associate Superintendent of Schools in Atlanta Public Schools for six years

Recognizes his consulting work with school districts including Birmingham City Schools, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Tucson Unified School District, and the Barbados Ministry of Education

Honors his community service including leadership in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. (named National Brother of the Year) and board service with organizations including the Macon Affordable Housing Commission and Museum of Arts and Sciences

Acknowledges awards received including Teacher of the Year, Principal of the Year, Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar distinction, and the W.E.B. DuBois Award for Excellence in Education
