Georgia House Resolution 2002 honors the life and memory of Howard Edward Smith ("Big Ed"), who passed away on March 14, 2026

Smith was born in Clarkesville, Georgia and was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years

He was survived by his wife Louise, three children (Brad, Marty, and Chris), seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren

The resolution recognizes Smith for his community devotion, anonymous acts of kindness, and reputation for integrity and generosity

The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to provide a copy of the resolution to Smith's family
