Georgia House Resolution 561 formally recognizes and commends Congresswoman Nikema Williams for her public service and advocacy for social justice, voting rights, healthcare access, and reproductive justice

Congresswoman Williams succeeded Congressman John Lewis and was elected Freshman Class President for the 117th Congress

Prior to Congress, she served in the Georgia State Senate and was arrested at the Georgia State Capitol in 2018 while protesting to demand all votes be counted

She is a member of multiple congressional caucuses including the Congressional Black Caucus, Democratic Women's Caucus, Congressional Progressive Caucus, Voting Rights Caucus, LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, and HBCU Caucus

Awards and recognitions include Georgia Trend magazine's 100 Most Influential Georgians, Forty Under Forty, Power 30 Under 30, Outstanding Atlanta, and Who's Who in Black Atlanta
