GA SB140

Authorizes doctors of optometry to dispense and sell pharmaceutical agents (excluding controlled substances) related to treatment of eye diseases and conditions of the adnexa oculi for legitimate medical purposes

Requires the optometrist to be on premises and actively involved when dispensing, inform patients on appropriate use, and document name, strength, quantity, and use in patient records

Mandates optometrists maintain a readily retrievable record system of all pharmaceutical agents purchased for administration, dispensing, or selling in their practice

Requires compliance with State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations under Code Section 26-4-130

Does not expand the administrative or prescriptive authority of optometrists, and effective upon Governor's approval
