Retail establishments must allow customers with eligible medical conditions (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, or conditions requiring ostomy devices) to use employee restrooms when no public restroom is immediately accessible

Customers must present written documentation from a licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner confirming their medical condition

Access requirements only apply when at least 3 employees are working, the restroom is maintained safely, and providing access does not create obvious health, safety, or security risks

Pharmacies and establishments with HIPAA-protected records are exempt if restroom access would allow customers to reach pharmaceuticals or protected information

Retail establishments receive immunity from liability for injuries or deaths resulting from restroom access (except for gross negligence), and violations constitute a misdemeanor
