GA SB383

Adds a local school system representative as a required member of county child fatality review committees, joining existing members such as the coroner, district attorney, law enforcement, and health department representatives.

Changes the committee's primary purpose from determining "manner and cause of death and if the death was preventable" to identifying "opportunities for intervention" and making "recommendations for measures to prevent future deaths in similar incidents."

Expands the definition of reviewable infant deaths beyond "Sudden Infant Death Syndrome" to include sudden unexplained infant death and sleep-related infant death.

Extends the reporting deadline from 48 hours to 7 days for coroners/medical examiners to notify review committee chairpersons, and from 20 days to 90 days for committees to complete their review reports.

Requires agency representatives to attend annual training as part of their committee participation duties, with failure to comply subject to contempt of court orders from superior court judges.
