Increases the maximum number of accumulated sick leave days that teachers and other school personnel may use annually for personal or professional reasons from 3 days to 5 days

Prior approval from the local school superintendent or authorized representative remains required for such absences

Absences cannot conflict with local board of education policies regarding days when personnel presence is essential for effective school operation

Employers cannot require disclosure of the specific purpose for the absence, nor deny approval based on refusal to provide such details; personnel may only be asked whether the absence is "personal" or "professional"
