Department of Community Health may submit a Medicaid waiver request to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services by December 31, 2026

Waiver would authorize Medicaid reimbursement for home and community based mental health services for adults over age 21 who do not require institutional-level care

Eligible recipients include those with risk factors such as history of hospitalizations, psychiatric crises, emergency department visits, prior incarceration, or homelessness

Upon federal approval of the waiver, the department must take all necessary steps to provide Medicaid payment for these services
