Requires home inspectors and companies performing home inspections to be licensed by the residential contractor division board beginning January 1, 2028

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma (or 10 years of industry experience), pass a criminal background check, and pass a board-approved examination; licenses renew every four years

Home inspectors must maintain $250,000 per occurrence/$500,000 aggregate general liability insurance and $250,000 per occurrence/$500,000 aggregate errors and omissions insurance including coverage for referral liability

The board may investigate complaints and impose penalties including cease and desist orders, fines, license suspension or revocation, and criminal complaints with the Attorney General

Current home inspectors may apply for licensure beginning July 1, 2027 without meeting initial education requirements if they pass the National Home Inspector Examination or equivalent competency measure
