GA SB53

Requires the Georgia Department of Public Safety to establish a public education program on safe firearm storage, contingent upon appropriations from the General Assembly or other funding sources

Program content may include information on firearm storage laws and best practices for preventing persons under 18 years of age from accessing firearms

Authorizes the Department of Public Safety to coordinate with the Department of Education to develop and distribute firearm storage safety materials in schools

Permits acceptance of federal funds (from Congress or executive order) for the program, with the stipulation that federal funding shall not commit state funds or obligate the General Assembly to continue the program
